Hi, I'm Herin. I'm an interaction designer and researcher with an emphasis on people/planet centered research. I conceptualize and prototype products and experiences that connect and engage people through poetic and meaningful interactions. My design process always starts by empathizing with people, prototyping a diversity of approaches, testing those ideas and iterating to arrive at the optimal concept.
Currently, I'm an Interaction Designer at Intelligent Mobility Design Centre at Royal College of Art. As part of a design team, I lead design research and core design experience by investigating how the relationship between people and vehicles with AI will evolve, exploring their interactions through iterations of prototyping using different media. Over my career, I've worked with companies such as Cookpad, Facebook Reality Labs, LEGO Creative Play Lab, IKEA, CRUSA Foundation, Frolic Studio, and North Kingdom.
My work often revolves around people, nature, and technology. I find beauty in complex systems that follow simple, but elegant rules. I also believe that meaning, function, and aesthetics come together to create beautiful design experience. By blending physical and digital elements, I strive to create sensory- rich, immersive and emotional experiences. I thrive when I get to collaborate with others and enjoy experimenting with different design approaches and mediums including exploring physical and digital elements, applying new technologies, and learning new ways to utilize materials.
I graduated from the Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design in 2021. My final thesis, a 3-award winner at the Interaction Design Awards, investigated design as a means of bridging the gaps among different communities in Costa Rica and contributing to a more inclusive society.
